Rescued! by John Marshall - Unframed Christian Art

Unframed Open Edition Lithograph Measures 19" x 22" (including 2" borders)

Using symbolic images for the cross and Holy Spirit, John graphically depicts the gloriously redemptive and freeing power of the cross. Christ truly has paid the full price to rescue us from the dominion of darkness, where fallen humanity, the Bible informs us, is tragically heading. Romans 3:23

ARTIST NOTE: God's word informs us that the cruel cross(which makes today's hot topic of waterboarding look like mere kid's stuff in comparison) was God's way of providing us with an avenue of escape, to all who will willingly open their hearts to God and receive God's only remedy for sin.

The classic hymn penned by Augustus M. Toplady in 1776 describes the transaction well:

"Rock of Ages, Cleft for Me"

Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee;
Let the water and the blood,
From Thy wounded side which flowed,
Be of sin the double cure;
Save from wrath and make me pure.

Not the labor of my hands
Can fulfill Thy law’s demands;
Could my zeal no respite know,
Could my tears forever flow,
All for sin could not atone;
Thou must save, and Thou alone.

Nothing in my hand I bring,
Simply to the cross I cling;
Naked, come to Thee for dress;
Helpless look to Thee for grace;
Foul, I to the fountain fly;
Wash me, Savior, or I die.

While I draw this fleeting breath,
When mine eyes shall close in death,
When I soar to worlds unknown,
See Thee on Thy judgment throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee.
