King Of Kings by Howard Lyon is a wonderful work of christian art that depicts the biblical story of the Magi visiting a young Jesus.
The account of the Magi visiting Christ as a child has long been the subject of paintings and stories. It is touching and inspiring to envision the wise and learned traveling to present gifts and honor to the young Christ.
Though tradition places the Magi in the manger, the scriptures indicate that Christ may have been as old as two when they arrived. We can read in Matthew that King Herod ordered the deaths of all children two years of age and under “according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men.”
“And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.”
