“…And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the Righteous.” ---1st John 2:1

Here, Jesus isn’t just praying to the Father; He’s praying to the Father for us. He is ever making intercession in our behalf (Hebrews 7:25). I picture Christ pleading with the Father that our sins will be forgiven not according to our own merits, but according to our faith in Him and His grace and sacrifice. It is personal. Your own name and situation might very well be on the Savior’s lips as he begs for mercy for your sake. With Christ championing our cause, how can we fail?
